Simona Cinà, the autopsy results of the 20-year-old who died in Bagheria: drowned, but heart attack or "silent" illnesses ruled out.

The investigation

Simona Cinà probably drowned in the swimming pool of her villa in Bagheria , on the outskirts of Palermo, where she was found lifeless during the night between Saturday and Sunday 3 August during a graduation party for two of her friends.
This is the first finding of the autopsy performed on the body of the 20-year-old volleyball player from Capaci, conducted this morning at the Institute of Forensic Medicine at the Policlinico Hospital in Palermo. Water was found in the girl's lungs, confirming drowning as the probable cause of death.
What's still missing is the cause of the drowning: no heart problems or even underlying medical conditions have been detected . The theories of illness or alcohol or drug abuse remain. The results of toxicology tests , expected in approximately 40 days, will be crucial in this regard.
The tests performed confirmed what the coroner had already found during the initial examination of Simona Cinà's body: there were no signs of violence on the 20-year-old's body, only some bruises on her sternum, likely due to resuscitation attempts by two young men who first rescued Simona, resurfacing her body from the bottom of the pool. The exact time of death is also currently unclear, and has not yet been clarified .
The Termini Imerese Prosecutor's Office has opened an investigation into Simona Cinà's death, alleging manslaughter against unknown persons. On Monday, investigators issued a statement addressing rumors and statements from Simona's family, namely that no traces of alcohol were found by the pool or in the garden where the party took place. The alcohol was seized by law enforcement , but only 48 hours after the girl's death, during which time the villa, which had not been seized, remained unguarded.
